After eight days of hiking we finished the last 16 km to Everest Base Camp with excitement.

We had an early start to a long day with breakfast of cornflakes at 6:30. We set out on a three hour hike through a glacier to Gorak Shep. The views were insane, but the trail was extremely rocky, so I couldn't look up much. We were completely surrounded by gigantic mountains.

When we finally reached Gorak Shep we had lunch of pasta then unpacked our stuff in our rooms. To save energy we only took the essentials to the hike to base camp.

The hike was about 2 hours, but it seemed like forever. The anticipation was killing me. When we reached base camp I was so relieved. The weeks worth of hiking and the terrible stomach pains were worth it. I was amazed by the mountains and even caught a glimpse of Mt. Everest.

After lots of photo taking I shared a piece of chocolate with Katy and tried to soak it all in. I then looked around for a rock for my dad and even grabbed one for myself. After 30 minutes it was sadly time to leave. It was such an incredible experience and I wanted to stay there forever.

We hiked 2 hours back to the teahouse in Gorak Shep. I was exhausted and went to read and nap before dinner. I had Dal Bhat which was hard to finish with the loss of appetite. I went straight to bed after dinner because I decided to do an optional hike tomorrow morning at 4 am to Kala Patthar. Afterwards we start our descent :(

Glad it seemed that you were able to eat breakfast each day, even though you lost your appetite and food didn't taste good. At least you were eating something. And hopefully you were drinking water. Amazing trek! It's so crazy to think that you did this. Truly incredible! :) So very proud of you!!! :)
