A five hour walk filled with dust and yak poop led us up to 4,440 m.

My 7am porridge was accompanied by honey this morning which was a special treat. I filled up my water and began the long trek to Dingboche. The morning was mostly flat and we didn't stop often, however our pace began to slow. We were guided by Mt. Everest which emerged from behind the clouds. You can barely see it peaking out from behind the mountains.

Three hours and 7 km later we stopped for lunch. I had Chapati (fried bread) and eggs as I didn't want rice, noodles or potatoes. We rested in the sun and I blew all the dirt out of my nose from the dust this morning. I also changed my buff from a headband to cover my mouth.

The afternoon hike was mostly flat which was nice, but I was having terrible stomach cramps so it felt quite difficult. When we finally made it to the teahouse we set out to find a bakery. With a stomach full of apple pie I headed back to my room and read until I found myself asleep.

I awoke and headed over to the dining room to put in my dinner order of vegetable curry and rice. I then continued my book about a failed attempt to summit Everest, which was proving to be quite interesting.

After I managed to eat half my dinner, I hung out in the warmth of the dining room. We were now at 4,400 m and above the tree line. Instead of burning wood, they burn dried yak poop. Although I am grateful for the warm fire, the smell that comes with it is not pleasant and it hurts my lungs.

I then headed back to my cold room and snuggled up into my sleeping bag.

Hope the sleeping was warm enough, even without the yak poop fire. Ugh! Smoky and stinky! But I suppose the warmth is worth it.
