The first view of Mt. Everest and chocolate carrot cake made for an awesome day.

Today was our first rest day. A rest day doesn't actually mean relaxing the whole day, but doing a shorter hike up and back down to stay at the same teahouse. These days are important to let our bodies get used to the altitude.
We began the day with a breakfast of porridge at 7:30. We then hiked to a view point of Everest/ museum for Tenzing Norgay (the first person to summit Everest). It was the first view I had of Mt. Everest. It is the world's most hidden mountain, so you can only see it from certain locations and even when you can see it you can only see the tip.

After exploring the museum we continued our hike up 700m. The hike wasn't as steep as yesterday, but it was still difficult. We took a break halfway up to have a snack and water. I could definitely tell a difference in the air when we reached the top (4000m) because I was getting winded a lot faster.
The view of the mountains from the top was incredible. Despite the wind we sat for a while and had some more snacks and enjoyed the views. After about 30 minutes we headed back down. A few of us had to go to the bathroom pretty bad and everyone was hungry to the walk down went by very quickly.
Once we were back at the teahouse it was time for lunch. I had Dal Bhat which was delicious. Somehow despite eating it for almost every meal I still order and enjoy Dal Bhat. We then went back to the bakery from yesterday for more chocolate cake. This time a big group came with us. Since there was so many people they ran out of cake pretty quick, so Katy and I went to find another bakery. We happened upon a german bakery that had the most delicious chocolate carrot cake. They also had free charging, so I hung out with Katy while she charged up her power bank.

After her power bank was charged, Katy and I headed back to our teahouse for a nap. I woke up around 5 to go put in our dinner orders and then finished my book. For dinner I had the sherpa stew again. Afterwards I played some Karma, one of my favorite card games, and then another game of werewolf before heading off to bed.
The people are extremely friendly and normally speak English pretty well.
Again a wonderful report of your thoughts and activities. I truly love the food. Can't wait to get more descriptions. Are the people friendly and do they speak english?
